Program note: little tiny stone, full of blue fire takes it name from Dorothea Lasky’s poem Beyond the Blue Seas (BOMB Magazine, 8.26.11), which I found after pondering the breathtaking beauty of newly-discovered YInMn blue—a color discovered in a fire. The poem serves as a point of inspiration and departure, exploring surreal images of a long journey, sacrifice, self-actualization through transformation, and cyclic inevitability. This piece was commissioned by Hub New Music.
